The Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) opened weaker today with the JSE All Share Index dropping 211.89 points or 1.03% lower to 20 411 points. Just over 122.1-million shares have changed hands in 31 636 deals, worth more than R2.88-billion.
The Top-40 index of blue-chip shares has lost 217.54 points or 1.17% to trade at 18 346 points, the Resource Index has dropped 765.52 points or 2.06% lower to 36 456 points.
The Gold Mining Index was almost unchanged, edging 0.22 points or 0.01% lower to 2 193 points, while the Platinum Index has slipped 1.78% lower.
The banking sector has lost 0.73%, while financials have lost 0.87%.
